CCI leads vaccination communication by example, by taking the jab

CCI is not only leading in vaccination communication, the CEO, Ms Claudia Shilumani and executive members are leading by example for taking their COVID-19 vaccination as part of the Sisonke’s extended healthcare worker vaccination programme recently. She was joined by two members of the Executive Management Team, Sakumzi Ntayiya and Mogale Mashiapata, they received the jab at MedForum in Pretoria.

This move is meant to encourage CCI staff, CCI partners and all CCI beneficiaries to take the jab when it becomes available in the public sector from Monday, 17 May 2021 and from the private sector from Monday, 24 May 2021. According to CEO, the jab is painless and the 15 minutes waiting period to ascertain the absence of adverse events went by so quickly. She explains that the entire process, from entering MedForum building to leaving again took about 30 minutes. “I am very excited that I received my jab finally. Even as a health care professional, it was important for me to wait until the last day of Sisonke trial to allow other patient facing colleagues to get it first. This, despite the fact that I am in front with the loudest of voices urging health care workers, the elderly and those with co-morbidities to register and get vaccinated. I see taking the jab as leading by example. Now I will feel comfortable telling others to take it as well.” CEO, Claudia Shilumani.
