Mariatu Elba has 18 years of expertise in evidence-led Human Rights, comprehensive Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Gender in Development, and Gender-Based Violence programming. Her career within civil society from local, regional and continental levels includes technical leadership and consultancy roles within South Africa, the Southern African region, various government departments, and private sector organisations. She has led teams in research, program design, management, monitoring, evaluation and reporting within organisations such as Voluntary Service Overseas, Gender Links, CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation, Common Wealth Foundation, United Nations Population Fund, FEMNET, International IDEA, Southern African Trust, Food and Agricultural Organisation, African Bank and more. She holds a Master’s Degree in Governance and Human Rights; and is deeply committed to advancing gender-responsive policy making for transformative community impact.
