Location: Free State (Setsoto Sub-district)

Duration: Immediate until 30th of March 2025

Reporting to: Clinical Manager

Organisational Background

Centre for Community Impact (CCI) is a non-profit South African organisation based in Pretoria. We

are a centre of excellence in strategic health and development communication programmes that are

centred around meaningful community engagement. CCI has been implementing Social and

Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) programmes since 2004.

Position Summary

The Professional Nurse will lead and manage the delivery of biomedical interventions for in-school

and out-of-school Adolescents and Young People (AYP) in the selected sub-district within Thabo

Mofutsanyane District (Free State Province), in close collaboration with the Centre Manager, Out-of-

School AYP Programme lead and the In School Programme Coordinator. S/he will lead and manage

the AYP and MSP clinical roving team in the selected sub-district, as well as coordinate the delivery

of biomedical interventions (HIV, TB, STI, SRH) for in-school and out-of-school AYP aged between 15

– 24 years and Male Sexual Partners (MSPs).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead the overall planning, implementation, coordination and monitoring of the AYP

biomedical interventions for in-school and out of school in the designated sub-district to

achieve results against set objectives.

• Supervise and oversee Enrolled Nurses, Linkage Officers and HTS Counsellors.

• Oversee overall mapping of health facilities and PrEP sites for the provision of comprehensive

biomedical services in the sub-district.

• Provision of Modality 1 (Biomedical interventions) for in-school and out-of-school AYP and

MSP.

• Advocate for effective roll-out of biomedical AYP interventions including PrEP, PEP and ART in

identified sites.

• Implement needs-based capacity building activities i.e., training, mentoring, coaching and

supportive supervision for health care providers,

• Ensure that the implementation of biomedical interventions supports and is align with

relevant government guidelines and policies i.e., DBE, DSD, etc.

• Work closely with the strategic information (SI) team to ensure the biomedical AYP service

delivery related data is collected, validated, reported, and appropriately utilised to inform

evidence-based programme planning, decision-making and continuous quality improvement.

• Provide ongoing needs-based training, mentoring, coaching and supportive supervision to the

AYP and MSP programme roving team.

• Represent the AYP and MSP programme roving team in all relevant platforms as appropriate.

• Be flexible to work on weekends.

• Be in possession of a valid driver's license.

• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Senior Manager.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Nursing Sciences.

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

• NIMART trained and certified as competent to work independently.

• A minimum of 2 years NIMART experience.

• 3-5 years’ experience in working at a clinic (PHC or CHC) facility.

• Familiarity with latest national HIV, STIs and TB policies and guidelines.

• In-depth understanding of relevant government programmes, e.g. social development,

health, and basic education.

• Knowledge and use of HIV Programme Monitoring and Evaluation paper-based and online

(M&E) systems.

Competencies

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Good writing skills. Command of

local languages would be an added advantage.

• Experience in program M&E i.e. programme conceptualisation, work planning and

implementation of robust M&E systems, procedures and policies.

• Experience in managing and building M&E capacity (i.e. training, mentoring, coaching and

supportive supervision) of field-based data management teams.

• Ability to take initiatives, work under pressure and multitask with minimum supervision.

• A team player with good interpersonal skills.

• Sound problem-solving and decision-making skills; effective time management and

coordination skills and highly meticulous with attention to detail.

• Competent in Microsoft Office suite and other data analytics software (quantitative &

qualitative).

• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly to designated AYP sites to provide

biomedical services to in-school and out-of-school AYP and MSP in selected Subdistricts.

• Ability to be flexible and exercise sound judgment.

• Possesses time/organisation/stress management skills.

• A responsible attitude to all aspects of the work.

• Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.

• Demonstrate solid work ethics.

• Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
