Centre for Community Impact (CCI) www.ccisa.org.za, formerly known as Johns Hopkins Health and Education in South Africa (JHHESA), is a South African local Health and Social Behaviour Change and Communication organisation, which is also registered as a local Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) in the Kingdom of eSwatini (formerly Swaziland). Since CCI’s early years under the stewardship of the Johns Hopkins University’s Centre for Communication Programs, CCI has been at the forefront of the response to Gender Based Violence (GBV), HIV, TB and STIs in South Africa. Position Summary
The Finance and Administration Officer support the day-to-day financial management of the Meatless Monday Project. The role includes processing transactions, maintaining financial records, preparing reports, logistical/admin support, and ensuring compliance with donor and organizational financial policies. The Finance and Administration Officer works closely with Meatless Monday Project Specialist and reports to the Chief Operations Officer.
Responsibilities
1. Financial Transactions & Processing
- Prepare and process payment vouchers, ensuring proper supporting documentation and approvals.
- Record transactions in the accounting system (e.g., Pastel Evolution).
- Support monthly closing processes by preparing journal entries and reconciliations
2. Office and Logistics Administration
- Develop an efficient filing system to ensure files/records are updated and accessible.
- Handle all day to day filing for the office to ensure all CCI records are accessible within an efficient response time.
- Support the project with all logistical arrangements.
- Facilitate the procurement of office supplies related to the project.
- Collect all timesheets and leave forms from all project staff to ensure submission to Finance before or on the due dates.
3. Bank & Cash Management
- Assist in preparing monthly bank reconciliations for the Project.
- Monitor project bank and cash balances and ensure timely cash disbursement and replenishment.
- Support the preparation of payment instructions and submissions to the bank.
4. Documentation & Filing
- Maintain well-organized and up-to-date financial files (electronic).
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements on documentation retention and audit trails.
5. Compliance & Controls
- Ensure that transactions are compliant with Meatless Monday Project and organisational policies.
- Support implementation of internal controls and flag any compliance gaps to the Management.
6. Reporting & Budget Monitoring
- Assist in preparing periodic financial reports for submission to the Funder.
- Track expenditures against budget and flag variances to the COO.
- Prepare supporting schedules for financial reports as required.
7. Audit Support
- Support the Accountant in preparing for internal and external audits.
- Retrieve supporting documents and respond to audit queries.
8. VAT & Taxation
- Assist in preparation of VAT claims and PAYE schedules as applicable.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory payments under guidance from the Accountant.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in a similar finance role, preferably in donor-funded projects.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Pastel Evolution).
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
