Centre for Community Impact (CCI) is a non-profit South African organization based in Pretoria, with offices in Bethlehem and Setsoto in the Free State Province, and in Rustenburg in the North West Province in South Africa. We aim to be a centre of excellence in strategic health and development communication programs that are centred around meaningful community engagement.

Position Summary

Provide professional and effective guidance at schools in implementing the In-School component of the Adolescents and Young People (AYP) Program. Render care, support, and protection to vulnerable learners in line with the implementation of HIV/AIDS life skills education programme, Comprehensive Sexuality Education and Care and Support for Teaching and Learning (CSTL) guidelines. Supervise and support Learner Support. Agents (LSAs) at both secondary and their feeder primary schools for consistent learner development throughout grades progression. Coordinate In-School activities. Offer Core Package and Psychosocial support, refer for further services at the Safe Spaces and to the appropriate external stakeholders, report Human Rights Violations (HRV) timeously.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support In-School Manager in coordinating school activities.
  • Offer, support and organise for the delivery of Core and Management Services within the AYP Program.
  • Report Human Rights Violations (HRV).
  • Coordinate referrals, linkages and follow-ups to biomedical and structural services.
  • Support LSAs in cascading Peer education, Soul Buddies clubs support and mentor LSAs and supervise their work.
  • Facilitate team meetings to plan weekly and monthly roosters at schools and Safe Spaces and managing the rooster, tracking changes, and communicating with the different staff members.
  • Support In and out of School Social Workers in assessing the needs of clients and assists in implementing effective support strategies and support the Social Workers with the Home Visits if it is a complex referral.
  • Deal with individual psychosocial support and complex referrals to layers and linkages.
  • Conduct Risk screening sessions and develop a service plan for beneficiaries.
  • Supervise and facilitate structured programs and facilitate structured groups, supported by the social worker.
  • Enrolment and mobilisation of AYP beneficiaries into the program.
  • Record and maintain accurate and detailed client information and interventions and keep statistics to submit as required.
  • Implement an effective referral system to ensure effective service delivery and ensuring referrals and linkages are successful.
  • Provide quality checks for implementation of the AYP programme in the selected schools.
  • Support the data validation by working with M&E Officer and Data Capturers.
  • Support the verification and quality checks of all data submitted and consolidation of daily, weekly, and monthly data reports from schools and submit them to the In-school Coordinator for review and submission.
  • Attend all relevant stakeholder and other meetings.
  • Support Peer Group Trainers in mobilisation and programme awareness
  • Ensure operational, day-to-day smooth running of all AYP programme services across allocated schools (as per Cluster) in the sub-district.
  • Support In-School Coordinator to accelerate implementation and mitigate risks of the AYP where required.
  • Do daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly plans.
  • Write comprehensive Monthly and Quarterly In-School reports and Safe spaces reports.
  • Be flexible to work on weekends.
  • Perform any other duties within the program as requested by the In-School Manager, any other Manager or senior/executive management at CCI.
  • Owner of a valid Driver’s License with excellent driving capability.

Minimum Requirements

  • An appropriate 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification as recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
  • Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with schools to provide counselling and support to learners in their education.
  • Must have case management experience.
  • Perform any other duties within the program as requested by the supervisor, and any other manager or senior/executive management at CCI.
  • Owner of a valid Driver’s License with excellent driving capability.


  • Good writing skills that will enable the incumbent to compile reports.
  • Good communication, listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work individually and as a team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of human behavior, social systems, and skills to intervene at a point where people interact with their environment to promote their well-being.
