The e-tv drama series - 4Play Sex Tips for Girls III - is leading the pack having landed ten nominations from this year's South Africa Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs).
4Play II received ten nominations: Best TV Drama Series; Best Director of a TV Drama Series; Best Supporting Actor in a TV Drama Series; Best Actress in a TV Drama Series; Best Writing team of a TV Drama Series; Bets Production Design of a TV Drama Series; Best Costume Design of a TV Drama Series; Best Make-up and Hair Stylist of a TV Drama Series; Best Sound Design of a TV Drama Series.
The series was produced as part of the USAID JHU HIV Programme South Africa and funded by the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief with technical guidance from health communications NGO, Johns Hopkins Health and Education in South Africa kept audiences glued on their TV sets for 13 weeks between February and June 2012.
Produced by Quizzical Pictures, 4Play tells a story of a quartet of 30-something professional women who live and work in Johannesburg and takes the audience through how they go about finding love, sex and relationships.
The series is about a salon owner and single mother Noma (Xolile Tshabalala) and her cousin Nox (Kgomotso Christopher), and their friends Danny (Tiffany Jones) and Amira (Mbali Maphumulo). The four have different life experiences on issues of sex, relationships and love in a cosmopolitan city.
"We are thrilled that 4Play has been nominated in so many categories. It is a tribute to those talented writers and directors and the cast who helped to breathe life into this production" says Lusanda Mahlasela from JHHESA.
"Most importantly, it is our hope that telling stories such as these helps to not only entertain audiences, but also to educate and inform them on sex, love, and HIV".
Quizzical Pictures Managing Director, Harriet Gavshon is equally proud about 4Play being nominated in this year's SAFTA awards.

The Saftas are the premier film and television industry awards established by the National Film and Video Foundation to honour, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality and excellence of South African film and television talent, and encourage entrepreneurship and the development of new talent in the industry. They are in their seventh year.
The awards ceremony will be held in Midrand on 15 and 16 March 2013.
